MOE TRAIN TRAVELS

Eat the City Like You Live There.

One city at a time: the famous tables, the counters locals guard, the bars with the stories, and The Run in every guide: a fun way to go, in day parts. No tourist traps with a PR team. No list copied off the internet. My run, my orders, my name on it.

Local input. Earned picks. Your own way through.

HOW I TRAVEL

The Moe Train Way to See a City

There is no single perfect way to see a city, and no set schedule worth following.

Go off the beaten path. See what you want to see.

Eat where the locals eat. Eat from street vendors and food trucks.

Drink at hole in the wall bars. Catch live music. Let the culture find you.

Connect with the city in your own personal way. That is what these guides are built for.

If you follow a set schedule, you WILL miss so many parts of a living, breathing city that you'll regret being so regimented.

WATCH

Chicago Deep Dish, First Bite on Camera

Travel tastes better on video. Rasta Train tries Chicago deep dish pizza for the first time, straight from the Moe Train Eats channel. When you are ready to eat your way through the city yourself, the full Chicago city food guide is built and waiting.

THE SOUTH

The South

Home ground. I live in Southwest Florida and I eat here every week. The home guides are being built from my own table right now.

In the works

  • Punta Gorda: my hometown run, and this is how I eat it In production
  • Captiva and Sanibel: island eating, my way In production
  • Naples: Fifth Avenue and beyond In production
THE EAST

The East

Delis with lines out the door, slice rules enforced like law, and bars that have poured since before your grandfather was born.

THE MIDWEST

The Midwest

Food with rules and the portions to back them up. Chicago argues about every single bite, and it is usually right.

THE WEST

The West

Fifty food scenes stacked into strip malls, trucks, and dining rooms that have not changed in a hundred years. LA eats old and new at the same table.

THE SYSTEM

How a Guide Works

  1. Research first

Every guide starts with the homework: the famous tables, the local counters, the bars with real stories, all checked before a word goes up.

  2. Locals weigh in

The research is only the start. People who live in the city send in the counters, the late night spots, and the places visitors never hear about, and the strongest tips shape the guide and its updates.

  3. Two lists, never mixed

Best Eats is the famous side. Local Favorites is where the city actually eats. A spot earns its place on one list or the other, never both by accident.

  4. Scores come after the meal

No score gets invented here. When Moe eats at a spot, his score lands on the guide, out of 5, half steps only. Until then, the pick stands on the research.

  5. The Run

Every guide ends with The Run: a fun way through the city, morning to night, laid out in day parts instead of clock times. Take what you want, skip what you don't. It is a starting point, never a schedule.

LOCALS KNOW BEST

Built With the People Who Live There

Nobody knows a city’s food like the people who eat there every week. That is why these guides take input from locals: the counter with no sign, the late night spot that never makes the tourist lists, the place your neighborhood would fight to keep quiet.

Live in a city I have covered, or one I have not gotten to yet? Send me your best. The strongest local picks feed the guides and their updates, and the city list grows from what lands in that inbox.

Straight Answers

Has Moe eaten at every spot in these guides?

Not yet, and the guides say so straight. Every pick is built on research first: the famous tables, the local counters, the bars with real stories. When Moe eats at a spot, his score lands on the guide. Until then, no score appears, because no score gets invented here.

Can a restaurant pay to get on Moe's list?

No. Best Eats, Local Favorites, and Best Bars are earned and never for sale. Featured slots inside a guide are paid, always marked Featured, and they never change the lists.

Which cities are live, and what is next?

New York City, Los Angeles, and Chicago are live now. The Southwest Florida home guides, Punta Gorda, Captiva and Sanibel, and Naples, are in production next, with more regions after that.

How do I send in my city's best spots?

Email moetraintravels@gmail.com with the subject Local picks for my city. These guides are built on research and shaped with input from the people who live there, and the strongest local tips feed the guides and their updates.

I drop a new city every week. Follow the run.
